Students are eligible for free school meals if their parents are in receipt of any of the following benefits:
Where parents are entitled to Working Tax Credit during a four-week ‘run-on’ period immediately after their employment has ceased, or after they have started to work less than 16 hours per week, their children are entitled to free school meals for that period.

Applications are usually processed within five to ten working days. If your child is entitled to free school means you will receive a letter confirming the date from which the meals will start and when they will next be reviewed.
Free school meals are automatically credited through cashless catering (currently at the rate of £2.10 per day), so there is absolutely no differentiation for students in the dining room.
