King James' School

Governors

King James’s Governing Body exists to help the school provide the best possible education for students. It does this by:

  • setting the school’s values, vision and strategic aims, agreeing plans and policies, and ensuring resources are used effectively
  • monitoring and evaluating performance
  • acting as a critical friend to the Head and providing support and challenge
  • ensuring that the school is accountable to the students it serves, the local community, those who fund and maintain it, and the staff it employs.

The Head and Governing Body work in close partnership. The Governors’ role is strategic and the Head is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school. Once strategy has been agreed, the Head organises and oversees the school, implementing the strategic framework established with the Governing Body.

You can read the Governing Body´s annual governance statement for 2015/16 here.

The Governing Body meets at least once a term as a whole group. The dates of Governing Body meetings in the academic year 2016/17 are:

  • 4th October 2016
  • 8th December 2016
  • 15th February 2017
  • 16th May 2017
  • 5th July 2017
