In March, a group of Year 8 students took advantage of the opportunity to spend three days at Bewerley Park Outdoor Activities Centre.
We set off from school in glorious sunshine for the short journey to Pateley Bridge. Luckily the weather stayed with us for the entire trip, helping to make a superb experience for all.
On arrival, students were taken to their dorms to unpack before being given their kit for the activities. These included mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, canoeing, gorge walking, abseiling and high ropes. The evening entertainment included a night walk, a quiz, common room and the famous King James´s School Bewerley Review, which requires students to come up with a five-minute sketch in their groups about their experience of the trip.
The staff at Bewerley Park all praised our students for their superb behaviour and good manners throughout the week. They especially mentioned the students ´have a go´ attitude to some of the daring activities. I would like to say on behalf of my team of staff, what a pleasure and privilege it was to spend three days with the students (even at 1am, when telling them to ´go to sleep´!).
