King James' School

Exchange forges friendships

Fifteen students have recently enjoyed a week´s exchange visit to Privas, in the Ardeche region of France. All had a fabulous experience and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to immerse themselves in the French culture and hone their language skills.

Many of the King James´s students already knew their exchange partners following a week-long visit to Knaresborough by the French students back in the spring term. All settled quickly into French family life, enjoying experiencing the differences in lifestyle and food!

The first day in France was spent at school, which provided an interesting contrast with King James´s School (the 8am start to the school day wasn´t very popular!). After a weekend spent with their exchange families, the students enjoyed visits to Orange, Avignon and local markets and museums.

The blow of leaving behind their new friends and host families was softened by a day spent in Paris on the way home. The students enjoyed a whistlestop tour of the capital city in glorious sunshine, taking in all the major landmarks before flying home to Leeds.

Many of the students already have plans to return to Privas and it seems that some lifelong friendships may have been made.
