Just before the Easter holidays, a group of students from Privas, in the Ardeche region of France, enjoyed a week´s stay with exchange partners from King James´s.
Students from Years 10 to 13 took part in the exchange and some great friendships were forged during the course of the week. Spending time living in an English family gave the French students a unique insight into our culture and lifestyle, as well as improving their grasp of spoken English. The students spent a day in school (wearing uniform for the first time in many cases!), enjoyed a tour of Knaresborough and experienced a ghost walk through the town. Day trips to York, Leeds and Whitby gave them the opportunity to see more of Yorkshire.
The week culminated in a party in school, when English and French students, teachers and their host families came together to celebrate the exchange with food, music, singing and dancing. The following morning everybody gathered at Knaresborough Station for an emotional farewell.
Our students are now looking forward to being reunited with their French exchange partners in October, when they make the journey to Privas.
