Open Evening 2017

In the English Department, there was a range of horror writing, poetry and even a dress-up activity that was based around Shakespeare. For the poetry section, there was a Year 7 student who wrote multiple poems based on a questionnaire that guests could fill out. At the end of the night, you were able to collect your envelope in which was enclosed a poem based around your hobbies, things you disliked and sports etc. Additionally, it was funny to see English teacher Mr Kaye getting involved with a themed version of countdown.

Textiles had a small exhibition showing dresses, purses and corsets from GCSE and A Level. Guests had the opportunity to create a hand which would be placed on a model that made a design of a dress. The range of different colours, designs and sizes was stunning. Seeing coursework folders also demonstrated the hard work that was put into both the planning and final products. Food Technology baked cakes that they took around the departments. Year 7 and 8 students were hard at work making them all evening charging 50p a bun.

The Geography and History departments had an activity which was based around a memorial for soldiers. They had to look up the names and dates and work out where they were from around Europe. Additionally, there was a variety of different cultured food that guests and students could try.

The night ended on a high with performances from the school band and the Drama department. A big thank you to all the students and teachers involved and we hope to see you all next year.
