King James' School

Year 7 Boys Football Triumph

The KJS Year 7 Boys Football team became Area Champions after beating St John Fisher convincingly 9-1 in the Area Cup Final on Tuesday 21st April.

Year 7 put on a really impressive display at Thistle Hill. Previous matches this season had seen King James come away with a 1-0 victory and a 4-3 victory in the 5-a side competition, making them firm favourites leading up to the match. However it was St John Fisher who got out of the blocks early and took a quick 1-0 lead with their centre forward picking up on a rare mistake by the KJS back line.

Heads did not drop and KJS took the lead within 5 minutes with goals from Joe Navier and captain Jack Degruchy. From then on KJS were dominant and took no prisoners eventually running away with a 9-1 victory.

Well done to all the players that have been involved in the team this year. The Year 7 team won both Area cup and Area 5-a-side competitions. Mr Berry and Mr Wilson are very proud of the players and are excited for what next year has to bring.
