House Drama

Each autumn term sees the fiercely contested House Drama Competition, with each house working hard to put on a show, including auditioning, casting, scene-blocking, choreographing and, in some cases, script-writing.

This year´s competition culminated on 13th November with final performances before a packed house of pupils, parents, teachers and judges.

Under the leadership of their Sixth Form directors, each house took to the stage in turn to perform a full-scale piece of theatre: 10 Things I Hate About You (Airedale); Legally Blonde (Nidderdale); Ghost The Musical (Swaledale); and Nanny McPhee (Wharfedale). Once again, the Sixth Form directors proved to be a real credit to the school with their energy, professionalism and sheer dedication.

The unenviable task of choosing winners fell to the brave adjudicators Mrs Millett, Mr Driver and Mr McHugh-Hicks, who finally awarded the honours as follows.

  • Best performance went to Swaledale for Ghost: The Musical.
  • Best Key Stage 3 actress went to Oriana Lioi of Nidderdale for her role as Paulette Bonafonte in Legally Blonde.
  • Best Key Stage 3 actor went to Elliot Morland of Wharfedale for his role Sebastian in Nanny McPhee.
  • Best Key Stage 4 actress went to Annie Wallen of Swaledale for her role as Molly in Ghost: The Musical.
  • Best Key Stage 4 actor went to Jack Henderson of Airedale for his role as Patrick in 10 Things I Hate About You.
  • Swaledale won the award for best rehearsal.

Many congratulations to all involved for putting on a fantastic night of entertainment.
