King James' School

Music

The Music department offers a tremendous variety of musical experiences through our extra-curricular programme. ‘Music for All’ is our catchphrase and we encourage students to develop their performing skills on an instrument taught by one of our peripatetic staff, join in one of our ensembles or sing in one of the choirs. Our reputation for quality music-making is known county-wide.

Each year we hold a Christmas concert and an Easter concert, which are well attended and showcase a diverse range of talent from Years 7 to 13. Our jazz band, Riverside Jazz, plays at a number of events throughout the year.

Each year, the school awards the Knaresborough Lions Commitment Cup for services to music. In 2016 this was awarded to Marie Quemerais for her dedication to music within the school and the community. A School of Rock award for commitment was presented to Aidan Kelly.
