The Library is a comfortable, welcoming and stimulating environment that provides high-quality resources to support teaching and learning across the curriculum.
All students and staff are automatically members of the Library and have access to a wide range of books, DVDs, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, online resources and ICT facilities. The Library is staffed by two professionally qualified Chartered Librarians and a Library Assistant who support the development of independent learning and actively promote reading for pleasure.
Whole school literacy is further enhanced and developed through a variety of initiatives, which include an annual literary festival (Fully Booked), a number of reading groups that shadow a selection of children´s book awards, the international ´Kids´ Lit Quiz´ competition, book fairs and a specialist reading programme, Accelerated Reader.
The Library’s motto is ‘Inform - Inspire - Achieve’ and we want to equip every student at King James’s with the necessary lifelong learning skills to become confident and successful individuals.
Students and staff are welcome to use the Library every school day from 8.15am until 4.30pm (4pm on Fridays) for both collaborative and independent study. The librarians also provide a programme of after-school study skills and homework support.
