Sixth Form study is a full-time commitment and, although part-time work provides useful income and experience, employment needs to be secondary.
To help with costs of study grants are available through school from the 16-19 Bursary Fund. King James’s has been allocated limited funds from the Department for Education, to be targeted at vulnerable students facing the greatest need. Other students facing difficulties in meeting specific costs associated with their sixth form education, eg school trips, coursework costs, interviews/open days, can apply for support towards these costs as the need arises. The school is required to means test those seeking support, and applications will therefore need to be supported by evidence of household income and/or benefits etc.
Information and application packs are available from our Pastoral Officer, Amanda Simmons at the start of each academic year.
External support: Parents may also find additional funding support via the Turn2Us website depending on individual circumstances.
