Students at King James’s have the opportunity to go on a residential outdoor and adventurous trip in every school year from Year 8 through to Year 11. The programme of trips is organised so that students can experience a range of activities.
For Year 8 students there is a multi-activity week based at Bewerley Park Centre for Outdoor Education just outside Pateley Bridge. Students take part in activities such as high and low ropes courses, zip wire, initiative games, orienteering, raft building, canoeing, caving, climbing, sailing and gorge walking.
Year 9 and Year 11 students can apply to go on the annual ski trips.
Year 9 students are offered a two-centre trip to the Ardeche in France and Aosta in Italy, where they take part in a canoe descent of the Ardeche Gorge and experience activities such as white water rafting and rock climbing. This challenging and highly enjoyable holiday has proved extremely popular with students.
